Criminal Justice AAS

Preparation for a career in law enforcement begins with a theoretical and practical understanding of the criminal justice system and its components of police, courts and corrections and how each operates. Causes of crime and juvenile justice count among topics presented as students are made familiar with concepts such as community policing, criminal and constitutional law, criminal and forensic investigation techniques, and judicial process.

Elective courses are available on subjects ranging from narcotics and dangerous drugs to exploring serial criminality. An associate of applied science degree with a major in Criminal Justice will fulfill all the educational requirements for an entry-level position in most law enforcement agencies in our area as well as the United States. Some local, state and federal agencies require additional education for entry or promotion, so the program is designed to maximize transfer courses to four-year colleges and universities.
